The Grill Team buy Russell Crowe’s wedding car, Fitzy & Wippa miss out on the Gladiator Chariot

Russell Crowe‘s ‘The Art Of Divorce’ auction took place over the weekend, and a few Breakfast radio teams saw their chance to snap up some once-in-a-lifetime merchandise.

The Grill Team‘s Matty Johns bought the 2001 Mercedes-Benz S500 that was used in Crowe’s wedding to his former wife Danielle Spencer.

This morning The Grill Team announced that they had absolutely no clue what to do with it, but then resolved to give it away to a lucky listener.

They also received a voicemail from Russ with a message for the forthcoming new owner.

Nova 96.9 Breakfast team’s Fitzy and Wippa had last week started a Go Fund Me campaign to try to raise the money needed to buy the chariot from Gladiator.

While they were ultimately unsuccessful in raising enough money (despite Wippa’s lucky cufflinks), they did cop a $1,000 donation from Russell and all the money raised was donated to Youth Of The Streets.

Wippa didn’t come away empty handed, managing to buy a few props from Crowe’s movie Cinderella Man.
