The changing media revenue landscape

Staff Writer

The 2 charts below are from PwC and were taken from the Nine Entertainment prospectus.

They outline the Australian media ad spend and how it has changed over the past decade (2003 – 2012), plus a forecast of US media revenue (2012 vs 2017).

Some headlines …..

  • In the last 10 years, radio revenue has increased in Australia but has slipped slightly over 2011-2012

  • In the US, the forecast is for radio revenue to grow from US$16.1 billion in 2012 to US$17.3 billion in 2017, a slight increase over the coming years

  • The main growth in the US, not surprisingly, is forecast to be Internet advertising (which could nearly double).
