Territory FM’s Manzie Signs Off

Staff Writer

104.1 Territory FM Daryl Manzie will host his final Morning show after 15 years with the station.

Station Manager/ Program Director Matt Bern said: “I congratulate Daryl on having fulfilled an enormously important role by conducting thousands of engaging interviews that have described, interrogated and unpacked the issues, events and personalities of interest to Territorians,”

“We estimate he has conducted about 30,000 interviews in his 15 years as the volunteer Morning host: about 10 guests a day for 200 shows a year over 15 years: it’s a massive achievement.”

Daryl said that hosting the talk-back program had allowed him to stay active in the Northern Territory community. “I’ve been lucky that this job involves talking to interesting people about everything from the arts to sport, politics to the environment, and business and entertainment.”

He lists former Australian prime ministers Julia Gillard, Kevin Rudd and John Howard as some of his most interviews. He has also interviewed author Bryce Courtney, Russel Crowe and Jack Thomson just to name a few.

“But as much as I’ve enjoyed it, I’m running out of time to do all the things that are on my very long bucket list,” Daryl said.

“I need to step off the gas a bit so that I can catch up with some very good friends in Australia and around the world, and to complete the other things on the bucket list.”

Daryl’s last shift will be Friday with an OB in the Smith Street Mall.
