StreamGuys overhauls podcast management system

StreamGuys has upgraded its SGrecast platform including a redesigned user interface, enhanced editing tools and expanded publishing features.

The company said it would save content providers valuable time as they sought out new revenue opportunities and larger audience reach.

StreamGuys has been in business since 2000, and provides means for live and on-demand streaming, podcast delivery, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) toolsets for broadcast media organisations.

Jason Osburn, executive vice president at StreamGuys said the aim of SGrecast 4.0 was to maintain the workflow and processes its users are already familiar with, while modernising and streamlining their interactions with the platform.

“Everything happens in real time in a single pane. The new interface provides faster and easier access to SGrecast’s powerful toolsets in a more elegant and attractive way, while laying the groundwork for even more advanced features and feedback in the future,” he said.

The upgrade includes new overlay windows which will enable users to quickly access and edit information about a particular item or task – such as the details of a podcast episode – while preserving their current place in the main interface and workflow.

“The result is faster and more intuitive operation, saving users valuable time when publishing podcasts and making it easier to train new staff,” StreamGuys said.

Its browser-based Waveform Editor also had an updated user interface and expanded functionality. New interstitial cutting capabilities enable users to remove unwanted sections in the middle of recordings and recombine the remaining segments for republishing. StreamGuys said this makes content repurposing easier, and could, for example, remove ‘baked-in’ advertising in favour of dynamic ad insertion.

In addition, SGrecast 4.0 has refined its automated podcast publishing capabilities, added new functionality for publishing to Google Audio News, and is bundling Audio2Video and ENCO-powered automated captioning features for new and existing customers.
