Sounds of silence on triplej

Reporter

triplej has attracted headlines, with listeners saying they were left confused after a minute of dead air earlier this week.

As reported by news.com.au, the issue was initially noticed by Guardian reporter Josh Butler who posted on social media, saying there was then “another two minutes of dead air before they managed to rush a song on.”

Butler tweeted “a host (trying to fix/find the audio problem) came on singing “I’m so sorry” from ‘I Miss You’ by Blink 182.”

Id take dead air anyday over a 3min ad break on a commercial station. Its a miracle it doesnt happen more often due to the tiny budget triple j runs on. Sounds like the ABC needs more funding just to keep it on air.

Word is triple J moving to a K Pop Asian music hybrid format to cater for Australia’s asian population. Board have signed off on it already for next year. Watch this space.
