Sonshine CEO Bevan Jones to step down

Reporter

Bevan JonesCEO of Perth Christian community station Sonshine – has announced he will soon leave the role he has held for the past 13 years.

Jones says he considers it “a rare privilege for a leader to leave an organisation when it is excelling, knowing that I have done everything I can to achieve and knowing that it is time for a new leader to take it to the next level.”

Jones took the helm at Sonshine back in 2011, when the station was struggling financially and culturally.

He played an integral role in leading the organisation to its current position, where it is financially stable, has developed strong community connections, has dedicated staff and is seeing continued strong growth in radio survey figures.

“I feel proud and privileged as I finish soon after 13 years of learning and leadership at Sonshine Media,” says Jones. “Proud that Sonshine Media came out of a challenging period both culturally and financially in 2011 to now be an integral part of the WA community, partnering with numerous organisations and individuals impacting thousands with hope and practical service.

Jones says he also feels privileged to have connected with many amazing people and organisations.

“As I begin to look for a new role, I will leave happy that Sonshine Media has great leadership, committed and connected staff and volunteers, financial supporters and a supportive Board of Directors to ensure its people-focused impact continues well into the future. I’m excited to see what the future holds for both Sonshine and myself.”
