SCA’s Mickey Maher calls it quits

SCA’s current Head of Music and Group Provincial Content DirectorMickey Maher, recently announced he is calling it quits.

Sharing the news on Linked In, he said, “After almost 28 years my career at SCA has come to an end.”

“It began by handing out icy cold cans of coke from the back of the B105 Black Thunders and has afforded me many amazing roles along the way. It has always been the people that I have loved most about my time with the company. I have been fortunate to meet and work with so many amazing people, and live and see wonderful parts of not only this country but the world. There have been phenomenal highs and darkest lows, but I have learnt, grown, and embraced every step of the way. While too many highlights to list today, my greatest by far has been the honour to lead people, it will also be what I miss most,” Maher said.

“Finally, I want to thank SCA for the years of investing and believing in me and I wish all that I have met, known, and worked with along the 28 years nothing but happiness and success.”

“I look forward to what may lay ahead professionally, but for now, my priority is quality time with my wife and kids and a holiday.”

Mahers responsibilities have included leading the strategic planning for SCA music assets across radio, DAB+, LiSTNR and on-demand, as well as looking after the provincial markets of the Gold Coast, Newcastle, Canberra, and Hobart for the Hit and Triple M Networks.

Speaking with Radio Today in 2020, Maher said “If you’re doing what you love then it doesn’t feel like a day’s work.”
