SCA tops Newcastle Survey 1 results for 2022

Reporter

The first Newcastle survey of the year sees SCA on top.

Triple M 102.9 retains the number one spot, down 0.3 to 17.1%.

Triple M’s Tanya and Steve won breakfast ahead of Hit and ABC Newcastle.

They say signing on to Triple M for another three years was an absolute no brainer:

“We love what we do, where we do it – best city in the country – and the challenge to keep smashing that #1 spot makes getting out of bed at sparrows a breeze!”

In the biggest loss of the survey, second placed Hit 106.9 fell 2 share points to 13.9%

triple j is third, up 0.5 to 11.7%.

Fourth placed ABC Newcastle had the biggest gain of the survey, up 1.2 to 9.2%.

SCA Newcastle Content Director Jase Allen says “It’s a great day for SCA with the #1 and #2 stations for Hit106.9 and Triple M and breakfast shows in Newcastle. While Tanya & Steve continue their dominance in breakfast on Triple M, it’s incredible to see a significant new audience for Hit106.9’s breakfast show, Nick, Jess & Ducko.”

“Our teams love this city and nothing gives us greater pleasure than to create memorable content for our loyal audiences daily.”

Tracy Paterson, Executive General Manager – NSW and Canberra says today’s result for SCA Newcastle is testament to its incredibly passionate team:

“I couldn’t be prouder. Triple M and Hit106.9 are again Newcastle’s #1 and #2 stations. Both Breakfast teams continue to dominate the #1 and #2 position, with cumulative growth across both shows. Thank you to our loyal listeners, advertisers, and the community. It’s a privilege to do what we do every day, entertaining the people of Newcastle with great shows, news and engaging content.”

We need competition. Carilis network could not care less. Especially 2HD the same 20 callers. Totally boring

ARN should buy NEWFM from Bill and rebirth it as KIIS station.

RN’s new breakfast show this year is only half a percent behind NEW FM. This is very sad for NEW. Well done Pat and team on RN.

Since NEW breakfast is on the nose, perhaps network stations can ditch that hour of localism the 6am-6pm FM stations lost.

And this is amusing: ‘Tracy Paterson, Executive General Manager – NSW and Canberra says…’ No specific local GM for Newcastle (or Canberra or Gosford).

NEW FM need to fast-track Jade’s return to breakfast from maternity
leave. It’s all been downhill with her away.
Can’t she do the show from home?

Maybe if they were offering something liveable as a wage to host the show, New FM wouldn’t be so much in the pits?

@CK – Jade left New FM altogether, prior to Mat Leave. RT did an article on it, and was even addressed on air during the Novo show.

Woeful result for New fm at nights. Does love songs still get an interest on the station? And clearly there is something wrong with the workday talent if they’re down across the day (again), but weekends picking up slightly from last book?

Nice to see Nick Jess and Ducko steady – great product there!
