SCA prepare for half-year report

Staff Writer

Next Wednesday (Feb 19), Southern Cross Media will reveal their half-year report to their shareholders.

In the lead up to this, the Financial Review have today reported on some key losses to the radio side of the business lately, including Kyle & Jackie O's move to ARN and the untimely death of CFO Stephen Kelly.

SCA also lost company secretary Louise Bolger, who resigned on Friday (she was replaced internally by Stephen Mead) and Marina Darling who left the board last month. Both left for personal reasons.

CEO Rhys Holleran (left) has told the Fin Review: “The theory of being large is diversification but the downside of being large is there’s always an issue. But we think the business is in really good hands and it’s where it’s supposed to be.”

Talking about losing Kelly, he said: “It’s been an emotional roller-coaster really. Stephen had built a good team beneath him but he was a quality executive and CFOs are hard to replace. We are looking for the best possible candidate but they are big shoes to fill.”

At the presentation next week, SCA's Chief Content Officer Guy Dobson (right) will present alongside Holleran. “Guy understands and has been around this business for a long time now through product cycles and changes,” Holleran said. “Guy’s pretty good with those things and he’s a very talented individual.”
