This week, terminally ill Sammy Scully lived his dream of being a police officer, thanks to Mix102.3’s Max & Ali in the Morning.

Sammy was given the opportunity to be a police officer for the day with help from SAPOL and South Australian icons including singer-songwriter Guy Sebastian, Premier Peter Malinauskas, Crows ruckman Reilly O’Brien and cricketer Alex Carey.

Sammy – a brave young boy from Andrews Farm – was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an inoperable brain tumour, in January 2023 and was given just 12-18 months to live.

His dream is to become a police officer and Mix102.3 helped him achieve this by making him an officer for the day, fighting crime in Adelaide’s CBD.

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas joined in to make this Sammy’s special day by giving a ‘Stop Work’ order between 12:30pm and 1:30pm, encouraging all South Australians to get down to Rundle Mall and support Sammy’s mission of arresting the three celebrity criminals.

Several other celebrities from around Australia, including Simon from The Wiggles, Mitch and Mark from The Block, Charlie Grant from the Matildas and the Crows/Port captains also showed their support.
