Ryan & Tanya: Australia’s first napping competition

Staff Writer

Australia’s first ever Competitive Napping competition was held in Canberra on Thursday, at the Lyneham Netball Courts.

The results were announced by Hit104.7 breakfast shows Ryan & Tanya this morning, after the sleep data was analysed Dr Stuart Miller, Director of the Canberra Sleep Clinic.

Three lucky contestants napped-off against Hit104.7’s Tanya Hennessy, by getting horizontal.

They were, Carly Farrington who works two full-time jobs, Shane Peart a baker for over 20 years and Amy Callan a shift worker at the Department of Immigration.

Dr Miller observed and monitored each of the contestants so that the competition was at all times legitimate and quantifiable.

The results showed that 2 of the contestants did not enter sleep, however, the other 2 did with the winner falling asleep within 2 minutes.

Unfortunately for Tanya, her trophy cabinet remains bare as she didn’t come close to sleeping, not helped by Ryan’s air-horn.

“Yet again I have come 4th place, in a race against 4 people,” she said.

Farrington was ultimately the winner of Australia’s inaugural Competitive Napping Championship.
