River 94.9 takes Australian radio to record-breaking new heights

Staff Writer

River 94.9 FM joined the Rotary Club of Ipswich City 10,000 metres in the air on Tuesday to bear witness to their record-breaking ‘world’s highest Rotary Club meeting’.

River’s general manager Shane O’Brien accompanied the crew on board an RAAF KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport for the four-hour long journey from RAAF Mission back to the River 94.9 studio in what was an actual operational flight to service another aircraft.

“The refuelling of a Super Hornet in flight is a very unique experience not often witnessed by Defence personnel, let alone by civilians,” O’Brien said of the event, which was also an Australian radio first.

“It’s incredibly exciting for us to be involved and to be bringing this unique experience to our listeners back on the ground,” he added.

Another passenger on board the flight was Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale, who also happens to be the president of the Rotary Club of Ipswich.

Hi Pete … “one of those GM’s” here … How about you listen to the air-check and judge for yourself.
Also some free advise – be careful to make such judgements without knowing any of the facts, or any of the people involved.
“In with anger … out with love” Pete.
