Revealed: 2017 National Community Radio Awards Finalists
The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia has today revealed the finalists in its 2017 CBAA Community Radio Awards.
These national awards celebrate excellence in community broadcasting, recognising the achievements of stations, their programs, initiatives and individual contributors that increase their capability and improve the services offered to the community.
Winners of these awards (as well as the Tony Staley Excellence in Community Broadcasting and Michael Law awards (no finalists announced)) will be revealed at a gala dinner taking place on the Gold Coast, QLD, on 11 November.
CBAA Chief Executive Officer Jon Bisset congratulated all finalists in this year’s awards.
“Congratulations to all finalists, and thank you to the judges that had the difficult job of whittling hundreds of fantastic entries down to the ones announced today.
“It is one of the great pleasures of our year to see so much of the fantastic work that community radio stations are doing on display in these awards.
“These finalists speak to the important role that community radio plays in the media landscape and its crucial contributions to local content production, media diversity and building a strong, open and vibrant Australia.”

Community broadcasting is Australia’s largest independent media sector, a key pillar in the Australian media landscape, and recognised internationally as one of the most successful examples of grassroots media.
More than 5 million people tune into 440+ not-for-profit, community-owned and operated radio services operating across the country each week.
These stations provide programming that caters to the needs and interest groups of their communities and contribute to and reflect an Australia that is an open society, a strong democracy and a vibrant culture.
CBAA champions community radio by building stations’ capability and creating a healthy environment for the sector to thrive.
