Regional radio duo’s Power-ful community engagement
Regional radio teams often don’t get the industry credit they deserve when it comes to churning out creative and compelling content, especially when resources might be limited.
In South Australia’s Murray Bridge, Power FM SA Breakfast duo Katie Wright and Craig Pitman are all about community engagement, and this week, they’ve had a huge reaction to two particular stories they’ve showcased – one of them about a strange walker, the other, an inspiring runner.
That strange walker is Catman Ken, a Japanese man who’s been strolling around Australia for the past one and a half years … dressed as a cat.

On Monday this week, this infamous figure stopped at Murray Bridge.
“Craig and I had to find him!” says Katie. “We drove around for 3 hours and couldn’t locate him anywhere, so we posted a video tagging him while we were on the hunt.”
Just as Katie and Craig had lost all hope of tracking him down and were heading back to the station, Catman Ken DM’d them.
And so, they all got together.
The resulting video has been getting a huge number of views on Instagram and the ARN station’s Facebook page.

Also this week, the team interviewed local Murray Bridge legend Kai Martin, who recently ran 325km to raise awareness of domestic violence.
Katie says the 26-year-old is a true inspiration.
“Kai’s story is the one that has captured my heart the most since I have been here. It was an honour to interview him and share his story.”

Craig and Katie’s mission is to entertain, inform and put a smile on people’s faces before they leave the house each morning.
Craig has been with Power FM for almost nine years and last week had the honour of co-MCing the station’s 25th birthday celebrations.
Katie recently clocked up two years in radio. A graduate of Sean Craig Murphy’s Australian Radio School in Adelaide, she leapt straight into the deep end of Breakfast radio after years spent touring the world as a circus artist and has been enjoying the ride ever since.
