Red FM to take regional WA AFL Live call

Staff Writer

A couple of weeks ago, Crocmedia announced that their AFL Live syndicated footy call would be growing and will also be heard in Darwin, Launceston and West Gippsland in 2014.

They are expanding to also feature a Western Australian-flavoured match of the day that will air across regional WA.

At the launch last night in Perth they revealed that Red FM would be broadcasting the Match of the Day each weekend.

Crocmedia executive director Chris Giannopoulos said: “We didn’t want to take commercial shortcuts on this and send a syndicated call into WA if we could avoid it. WA is passionate about the Eagles, Dockers and footy in general, and it deserved its own identity and its own call."

Channel 10's Lachy Reid and former Eagles players Scott Cummings and Andrew Embley will headline the coverage.

28 games will be broadcast that include 14 matches that involve the Dockers or Eagles.

Red FM hits over 109 stations and over 120 towns, with the call targeting the large fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) fraternity in regional and remote WA, which is expected to expand to 63,000 people by 2015.
