Ray Hadley calls for Radio Today to launch ‘Over 66 Awards’
Ray Hadley called Radio Today “ageist” in light of its 30 Under 30 Awards, and suggested an ‘Over 66 Awards’ join its growing stable of events and initiatives.
The light-hearted exchange took place on Sydney’s 2GB as Hadley was handing over to Afternoons host Deb Knight.
Knight’s executive producer Hansle Joo is a finalist in Radio Today’s 30 Under 30 Content category. The full list of finalists can be seen here.
“You do not need an award,” Knight reminded Hadley of his suggestion for awards for the older radio generation.
“It’s not unfair. She deserves it. She’s a finalist and she’s cracker,” Knight insisted of Joo’s achievement.

Voting is now open for Radio Today’s Readers’ Choice component of the 30 Under 30 Awards.
Readers, radio nerds and colleagues can vote for their favourite candidate from the 50 finalists which were revealed earlier this week.
The Readers’ Choice Award is in addition to the final 30 Under 30, who were judged by a panel of industry professionals and the Radio Today team.
Anyone from the 50 shortlisted finalists could take out the Readers’ Choice Award – whether they make the top 30 as selected by the judges, or not.
Voting is open now, and closes at 11:59pm (AEDT) on Wednesday November 25.
The 30 Under 30, as well as the Readers’ Choice winner will be revealed on Thursday, November 26.
