Radio’s Magnificent Seven: The Next Generation
Now that the ACRAs are gone for good – how do we continue to recognise and reward great radio talent, both on-air an off?
Whether the awards can be resurrected or reimagined – perhaps even in digital or online form – remains to be seen. In the meantime, the Game Changers Radio podcast is shining a light on Australia’s next generation of radio talent through the Magnificent Seven.
The competition has been narrowed down to seven standout nominees, with members of the public invited to cast their vote.
Game Changers co-host Craig Bruce tells Radio Today “The list is really impressive – I guess the thing that stands out is that it’s dominated by a bunch really smart, funny, thoughtful female presenters.”

Voting is now open for the following seven nominees, all of whom are currently on-air and representative of radio’s ‘next generation’:
Katie Lamb: Triple M Breakfast Perth

Emily Tresidder: Hit Network

Lu & Jarch: Triple M Network

Loren Barry: Hit Network National Nights

Annabelle ‘A.B’ Brett: MIX FM Breakfast, Sunshine Coast

Laura ‘Loz’ O’Callaghan: Triple M Breakfast Adelaide

Abby & Tyrone: triple j Drive

Officially launched on Saturday, Bruce says the reaction to the competition was swift.
“We were flooded with votes on the weekend and we’re hoping to talk to the winner on this week’s episode, which may seem like a small thing but it’s important for us to put people on a pedestal in front of their peers.”
“Let’s hope we can find a way to continue to recognise great talent both on and off the air – we’ll continue to do our small part through the podcast.”
Voting for The Magnificent 7: The Next Generation closes midnight on Wednesday this week. Head to the Game Changers Radio Instagram page to make your choice.
