Radio stars shine at CMAA Awards

It’s been a night of celebration and triumph on Queensland’s Gold Coast, where the annual Christian Media & Arts (CMAA) Awards were held as part of the CONNECT24 conference at QT Surfers Paradise.

Christian Media & Arts Australia is the peak industry body for Christian broadcasters and program producers in Australia.

89.9 TheLight’s breakfast team of Lucy and Kel won the award for Most Compelling Audio, for Lucy and Kel take care of Christmas.

In thanking the entire team at 89.9 TheLight, including producer Roena Allford, PD MJ Want, mentor Craig Bruce, friends and family, Lucy posted to social media that their loyal listeners make the show what it is today.

“This is YOUR award for being the greatest listeners on the planet and bringing so much to the show every single day without fail. We love you.”

It was one of several triumphs for the team at PositiveMedia, which also won the award for Compelling Content in the Digital Media category, as well as Outstanding Innovation – Audio.

Hope 103.2’s Following the Chosen won the podcast category for Most Compelling Content, while Sonshine’s Heart For The Homeless campaign took out the Community Impact Award.

Hope Breakfast with Brendan & Danniebelle on Hope 103.2 won the Emerging Talent award.

The MVP for Remarkable Contribution was awarded to Lionel Morris from Gympie’s Positive 91FIVE

The Legacy Awards honour Christian leaders who, during their lifetime, have made an outstanding contribution and impact in Media and the Arts. This year’s recipients are:

Andrew Fraser (pictured above) – Lifetime Dedication in Media

Deb Bye (pictured above) – Lifetime Dedication in Media

Mal Fletcher – Enduring Impact in Media

Colin Buchanan – Enduring Impact in Arts
