Radio Ratings: Gold Coast’s Sea FM makes ground but can’t catch Hot Tomato in Survey 3

Staff Writer

Hot Tomato has held on to the title of Gold Coast’s #1 station in the third GfK radio survey of 2017.

Despite a +1% gain made by Sea FM to now sit at 14.4%, Hot Tomato is still sitting pretty at the top, with 16.9% (-0.2%) among 10+ listeners. This also marks the fourth consecutive survey that Hot Tomato has been number one among people 10+.

The station continues to dominate breakfast, with Flan & Emily Jade with Christo holding strong with 17.8% listenership, slipping only slightly (-0.1%).

GOLD FM also made ground in the breakfast session, gaining +0.6% to finish with 11.5%.

But one of the biggest pieces of news for the survey is Sea FM claiming the number one show in the drive session (4-7pm), with Hit’s national drive duo Hamish & Andy edging out previous titleholders GaleyMal & Moyra, who dropped -1.2% to finish on 16.4%.

Other big moves for this survey include:

  • Nova 106.9 gaining across all demographics to finish with a +0.8% increase among people 10+
  • GOLD FM losing -2.4% among listeners aged 25-39
  • Hot Tomato losing -2.8% among listeners aged 40-54 and a further -3.5% among listeners aged 55-64
  • Hit 105 gained +1.2% among listeners aged 25-39

From memory I think this is one of Talking Lifestyle’s strongest markets.

Triple M stations now getting smashed in Central Coast and Gold Coast consistently. What are they doing wrong?

Hopefully the Townsville survey next week won’t disappoint them too.
