Radio host Alex Dyson runs for parliament

Radio and podcast host Alex Dyson has announced he’s running for parliament again.

On LiSTNR’s Matt & Alex: All Day Breakfast podcast Dyson confirmed he’s throwing his hat in the ring as an Independent candidate for the Victorian seat of Wannon at the next federal election.

He says “It’s such a big thing to do and it’s such a difficult thing to go through, but I couldn’t not do it.”

“And I think despite it being extremely taxing and tiring a lot of the time, the good side of it, and the people you meet, and the hope and goodwill that comes out of running for parliament, it’s something that I couldn’t not say yes to (running) again.

It will be Dyson’s third tilt at Wannon, with the margin of the seat having increasingly narrowed amid campaigning over the previous two election cycles.

The Liberal Party’s Dan Tehan – former Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment – is the current sitting Member for Wannon.

The electorate is located in Victoria’s south-west and includes major towns such as Warrnambool, Colac, Ararat and Portland.

Dyson made headlines during his 2022 stint with his ‘Potholes of Wannon’ campaign, which saw him creatively decorate potholes in Wannon as plant boxes, eskies, and even golf-putting courses.
