Kyle & Jackie O and a prophet to appear at Radio Alive conference

Staff Writer

They have been a no-show at radio’s night of nights in recent years, but Kyle and Jackie O will be making an appearance at this year’s ACRAs in Brisbane.

They’ll hit the stage for the Radio Alive 2019 national radio conference, where they’ll talk about their radio careers, their almost 20 years together and how they keep their show at the top of the FM airwaves.

The KIIS FM duo joins a lengthy list of guest speakers announced by Commercial Radio Australia. They include New York-based ‘Digital Prophet’ David Shing.

Australian-born Shing is a marketing executive, who spent more than a decade at Verizon Media, which includes AOL, Yahoo, HuffPost and other media properties.

He’s also one of the most recognised and colourful figures on the US speaking circuit. Forbes has described “Shingy” as an artist and storyteller who “identifies emerging trends and inspires clients to think differently”.

The full conference program also features a panel of leading female executive producers hosted by the Head of the Hit Network Gemma Fordham. The panel will explore the elements that go into creating must-listen-to radio.

They join previously announced speakers Hedley Thomas, produce of the Teacher’s Pet podcast, as well as radio CEOs Grant Blackley (Southern Cross Austere), Ciaran Davis (ARN), Cathy O’Connor (NOVA Entertainment) and Adam Lang (Macquarie Media).

“We’re delighted to have such a strong line-up for the conference and we look forward to a big two days of radio,” said Joan Warner, chief executive officer of Commercial Radio Australia.

More than 500 radio and media executives from around the country will gather in Brisbane for the conference on Friday, 18 October, followed by the gala 31st Australian Commercial Radio Awards on Saturday, 19 October.

Radio Alive 2019 will be held in Brisbane on October 18.

What’s the chance Kyle gets a head ache and is a no show?
