Pete Curulli was in his comfort zone on his first day back at Perth’s hit music station.

Following Ryan Jon’s decision to depart Hit 92.9, Southern Cross Austereo installed Curulli to anchor a new look Heidi & Xavier Breakfast show for the city of Perth.

Curulli just wrapped the first hour on day one of his new gig, opening the show with “Good morning. Here we are, here we go! It’s good to be back home”.

Listen to Curulli’s first break below.

Curulli was previously hosting The Rush Hour on sister station Mix 94.5.

“Pete recently did a short fill-in spot with Heidi & Xavier, and the fun that came out of the speakers was infectious,” said Hit92.9 content director Tim Arnold.

“It’s incredibly exciting to have Pete return to the station he got his start at years ago.”

Jon chose to departed Perth to be closer family and fiance Bridgette Rodda, a winemaker in regional Victoria.

“I know this decision certainly wasn’t easy for Ryan, but the burden of distance can be incredibly tough to maintain, and while Ryan will most definitely be missed by the entire team here, we can’t wait to see him thrive with Brigitte back by his side,” said Arnold.

In the most recent radio ratings, the breakfast slot on Hit 92.9 had a 7.9% share (-0.4), making it Perth’s third most listened to FM brekkie show behind Nova (14.2%) and Mix 94.5 (11.3%).
