NOVA Entertainment launches its commercial radio apps on Smart TVs
NOVA Entertainment has today announced the launch of its apps on Google TV and Android TV.
It’s the only commercial radio network to make these apps available on Smart TVs in Australia.
By bringing the Nova Player, Smooth Player, FIVEAA Player and Star 104.5 Player apps to Google TV and Android TV, Nova says its listeners now have the opportunity take their favourite station into their living rooms, and choose anything from Nova Throwbacks to Smooth Relax at the touch of a remote.

NOVA says this latest announcement strengthens its commitment to innovation.
Key developments over the past 12 months include enhancements to Chromecast functionality and bringing the FIVEAA and Star 104.5 websites in-line with the upgraded Nova and Smooth websites.
NOVA has also integrated Coles Radio and Sky News Radio into its suite of websites, and has introduced an upgraded CarPlay experience, catering to the growing demand for integrated in-car listening.
Tim Armstrong, NOVA Entertainment’s Head of Digital Product, Technology and Data, says “At NOVA, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. Since the start of 2021 we’ve made significant advancements, becoming the most widely available radio network in the country when it comes to digital platforms. Making our brands available across new environments like Google TV reflects our commitment to delivering the best audio experiences for our listeners, wherever they need it.”
I have a smart TV in my bedroom that has generic radio/audio apps installed on them. I’ve found listening to TRFM on those apps to be a great experience, especially with the displays on the screen while the station is playing. No buffering or dropping out which is also a bonus. I like radio.net (the mobile version has Spotify-esque ads but worse) so I don’t know if the smart TV version has said ads as I haven’t used it in a while but I’ve enjoyed using it. Loads of local and international radio stations and podcasts.
