102.9 Triple M has extended its run atop the Newcastle Radio Ratings with another dominant performance in the second survey for the region in 2019.

The station, which rebranded from KOFM in 2018, rose in share overall to 17.5% (+0.7) among People 10+.

It remains streaks ahead of stablemate Hit106.9, who hold 12.7% (+0.2), staving off strong competition for 2nd place by triple j on 12.5% (+1.0).

NEWFM bounced back to 8.1%, but remains well behind its commercial competitors.

“Radio is alive in Newcastle, with SCA’s Triple M & Hit106.9 continuing to increase their dominance,” said SCA executive general manager NSW Ash Myatt.

Triple M’s Tanya & Steve are once again the top rating Breakfast show, with a strong share of 18.5% (+0.2).

Despite rising to 11.5% (+0.7), Hit Brekky’s Nick, Jess & Simon are in fourth spot, with a good result for the national broadcaster seeing triple j’s Ben & Liam and ABC Newcastle Breakfast place third and second respectively.

Kennedy Molloy remain #1 on Drive ahead of stablemates Hughesy & Kate.
