New Today weekend show revealed

Staff Writer

On Monday we told you that former Fifi & Jules anchor Byron Cooke is now the new morning announcer on Fox FM.

At the time we were told that there would be more news to come on his role at Fox later in the week.

We can reveal Byron is going to team up with Jo Stanley (ex-Fox breakfast) and Michael Beveridge (SAFM breakfast) to host a new weekend breakfast show to be heard across the Today network.

The previous weekend show featured Dave Thornton (now Fox breakfast) and Sophie Monk (now 2Day FM breakfast).

Jo said, “Radio is my first love and passion. To be able to have some fun with such a huge national audience with my two new buddies Michael and Byron is very exciting. I look forward to easing the pain of weekend sports runs and hangovers all over the country!”

Michael said, “As the 34th most popular ex reality TV person of the second half of 2012, I feel totally at ease amongst the relatively inexperienced duo of Jo and Byron.”

Byron said, “I've tried so many hair care products … but now I've found Weekend Breakfast. My co-hosts have the salon quality hair that I’ve dreamt about for years."

Jo, Michael and Byron debut their show this Saturday January 18 and will be heard around Australia every Saturday and Sunday morning from 7am-9am.

The show will be produced by MCM Media.

MCM Media Group Content Director, Sam Thompson said, “Jo is funny, conversational and honest; Michael is cheeky, switched on and a little quirky; and Byron is the seasoned radio professional. Weekend Breakfast is the perfect way to kick-start Saturdays and Sunday mornings – just add coffee!”
