Neil Mitchell reportedly ready to retire

3AW Mornings presenter Neil Mitchell is reportedly planning to hang up the headphones after over 30 years with the popular Melbourne station.

The Herald Sun reported the award-winning industry veteran would be replaced by current 3AW Drive host, Tom Elliot

The hole left by Tom Elliot in Drive is tipped to be filled by Channel 7 presenter Jacqui Felgate.

Mitchell is a consistent radio ratings powerhouse for 3AW, comfortably securing the top of Mornings in the most recent survey as 3AW celebrated its 71st consecutive survey win.

Neil’s Mornings show had a 17.1 per cent audience share in Survey 4. The closest competitor in Mornings, Gold 104.3, had an 11.9 per cent share.

In February this year, Neil launched his podcast, Neil Mitchell Asks Why? which may become the main focus.

In the most recent episode of the podcast, Mitchell interviewed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Neil’s current contract at 3AW was extended until the end of the year from the previous June 30 end date.
