Merrick, Jules & Sophie for 2Day Brekky

Southern Cross Austereo will officially announce the new 2Day FM Breakfast show tomorrow morning at 7.40, and we will confirm it at that time on Radio Today.

However Ninemsn is reporting (here) that the new Breakfast show has been announced internally as being Merrick Watts, Sophie Monk and Jules Lund.

Whilst it can't be 100% confirmed until the SCA announcement tomorrow, the move would pit former Breakfast rivals, Merrick Watts and Kyle Sandilands against each other once again in the timeslot, reigniting the on and off war of words the pair had for years when Watts was on Nova 969.

The news is likely to be unwelcome at Nova, given Watts hosted Breakfast on the station for ten years, and he has strong familiarity with their audience; and Watts is highly regarded for his ability and preparedness to work with sales and woo clients.

With Kyle & Jackie on KIIS, what appears to be Merrick, Sophie & Jules on 2Day, and Fitzy & Wippa on Nova; the under 40 Breakfast market in Sydney in 2014 will be the most competitive it has ever been.
