Matty Johns extends two years at SEN

Sports Entertainment Network has announced that Matthew Johns has extended his ties with the network, adding two more years of radio on SEN 1170am in Sydney.

Johns joined SEN in October 2020 during the launch of the network’s 1170am band in Sydney, hosting his weekly radio program ‘Morning Glory with Matty Johns’ each Friday. The show now simulcasts into Brisbane following the inception of SENQ 693am in July.

Johns’ weekly program has proven to be a hit with both radio and digital audiences, with the catch-up show consistently ranking inside Australia’s top 150 most downloaded programs per month.

In addition, Johns will appear on ‘Mornings with Matt White’ on Mondays and once a week during the ‘Run Home with Joel and Fletch’ during weekday afternoons.

Johns said, “The decision to sign on for another 2 years at SEN was a no-brainer.”

“I love the show we have put together and I am really impressed with what is being built at the station.“

SEN Chief Executive Craig Hutchison said he was excited to have Johns remaining on-air with SEN.

“We are beyond thrilled to have Matty continue with us for an additional two years. He’s been on the journey with us since the launch of SEN 1170am and we’re excited to continue to grow in the Sydney market together.

“Matty might be the most lovable man in media today. He’s not only an engaging personality, but his knowledge of rugby league is second to none, which gives our listeners great insights into the game.

“There’s a tremendous appetite for more Matty Johns, and we love that we can facilitate that for our audience with more on-air appearances throughout the week and the ability to consume his show any way they want, by radio or catch up.”

I don’t understand how SEN can afford to pay for all this talent when their ratings are so poor

Can someone explain to me how they make any money?

Gee Pete, do you really think ‘ratings’ have anything to do with revenue in commercial radio!?

Well done Matty on all your success at SEN. With more time and hard work, the ratings may surge up beyond 1%.
