Matt & Jo exit Fox FM after 10 years

Staff Writer

Just after 8am this morning, Fox FM's 'Matt & Jo' announced that they will finish with the station at the end of the survey year.

Matt Tilley said; "we've been blessed to have the most wonderful audience and to do the most wonderful things…it's exciting for us to go out with a bang"

Jo Stanley said; "“It has been an absolute privilege to be a part of the Matt and Jo Show for the last 10 years. This is a very overwhelming job, it's so consuming and we are, after ten years, after new challenges"

Hear the announcement here.

Troy Ellis, anchor of the show, said; "Anchoring the Matt and Jo Show has been  an incredible privilege, I've loved every single minute of it! We're an incredibly close little team, Matt and Jo are like family to me and I'm going to miss seeing them every morning."

This tweet below from Group Content Director Craig Bruce:

And Fox FM Content Director Dave Cameron has commented;

“It's been an absolute pleasure and privilege to work with such a successful and amazing team that has been relentless in its pursuit of entertainment excellence, making it the most successful FM breakfast show in Melbourne over the last decade”.

There is no word on a replacement yet. The move throws the Melbourne FM Breakfast market wide open in 2014, with the departure of both the Fox and Nova Breakfast shows at the same time, and the subsequent displacement of listenership that always occurs with Breakfast changes.

As you'd imagine, the Matt & Jo Facebook page has been inundanted with listeners comments; the general theme is one of disappointment and sadness at the news;
