Mark Geyer’s trek for charity

Staff Writer

He's famous for playing one of the world's toughest sports, but former rugby league star Mark Geyer aka MG knows his latest challenge will be a test of body and mind.

The Triple M Grill Team announcer set off from Bathurst at the start of the week for The Great Walk Foundation.

Along with ten mates, Geyer is set to cover the 155 kilometres to Blaxland on foot.

The Great Walk Foundation raises money for local charities including the Nepean Hospital which Geyer revealed he had a personal connection to.

He visited kids at the hospital before he left and said: "A couple of years ago my young bloke fractured his skull and was looked after unbelievably here."

Geyer will have the sick kids on his mind as he treks across New South Wales: "When we’re walking out there, there’s no pain that these kids in here aren’t feeling as well. So, it’s all worth it."
