Long term prisoners tell their stories in new podcast

Reporter

Jack Laurence has spent the last fourteen years working in the radio industry, from the Hughesy and Kate National Drive show to 2Day FM Breakfast in Sydney.

But one month ago, he decided to quit his secure weekly wage to speak with inmates across America for his new podcast One Minute Remaining.

In this series Jack speaks with several different inmates all serving lengthy prison sentences for some very serious crimes.

Like Dorice Moore, convicted for the murder of lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare, a crime for which she has always maintained her innocence.

Then there’s Emilia Carr, once the youngest woman on death row in Florida, now serving two life sentences for murder and kidnapping.

Launching on September 20, this series is not designed to convince anyone of their innocence or guilt but to give these inmates a chance to tell their stories.

Podcast trailer is here.

Thoroughly admire the hard work he has put into this podcast.

To also take a leap of faith like he has, quitting the industry, it’s inspiring.

Well done JK mate.

Now THIS is a podcast I’d happily push to on radio, and also listen to. Congratulations on leaving the comfort and security of your job to pursue this. Will be listening.
