Loewenthal exits Macquarie Radio

Staff Writer

The Macquarie Radio Network, who operate 2GB and 2CH in Sydney, along with the former Smart Radio Network in Queensland, has today announced the resignation of Managing Director Rob Loewenthal.

Loewenthal, pictured at right with Executive Chairman Russell Tate, will finish as Managing Director on 28 March, and at that time resign as a member of the Board.

Tate paid tribute to Loewenthal's 7 years with MRN as CFO, COO and MD, saying:

"Rob has been a key part of our management team and as a colleague and friend I wish him continued success as he seeks new challenges".

The resignation follows a turbulent period for Macquarie as they sought to form a relationship with the Fairfax Radio Network. Negotiations went deep, and ultimately fell apart in dramatic fashion in late February.

Russell Tate said that Loewenthal's role would not be replaced, and that he would resume the joint role of Chairman and CEO.
