SCA appoints Kate Casey & Ashlee Carroll to LiSTNR music team

Former Editor & Content Director

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has bolstered the music team for its LiSTNR platform with two appointments to the curation team.

Internally, Kate Casey has been promoted from music scheduler to become LiSTNR’s senior music curator. Casey has previously been music director at SCA’s Fox FM in Melbourne, as well as music director at Brisbane’s Nova 106.9.

She joined SCA as a music scheduler in 2018 and has been on the LiSTNR team since March.

In addition, Ashlee Carroll has joined the company as LiSTNR music curator. She has previously worked as a music programmer for MTV and Viacom International, and was most recently music curator for YouTube Music and Google Play Music across Australia and New Zealand.

The duo will now be responsible for curating the music and scheduling playlists for LiSTNR’s 25 music stations as well as reviewing the current brands. SCA has previously flagged its intentions to get to 50 music-based stations by the end of the year.

In July, it added 10 new music stations to the mix.

Carroll and Casey will report to SCA’s music content director for audio on demand and digital radio, Adam Williscroft.

SCA’s head of music, Mickey Maher, noted LiSTNR’s growth in the musical arena.

“LiSTNR’s investment in dedicated music curators reinforces our commitment to growing exclusive music programs and content. Last month we announced the launch of 10 new music streaming stations available on LiSTNR providing a varied music offering that music fans can find and explore within the LiSTNR app,” he said.

“Kate and Ashlee bring extensive music knowledge and skills to the roles and will work closely with Adam to curate music to suit listeners’ moods and lifestyles, as well as genres they already love or can discover on the LiSTNR app.”
