Influencer slams Lawrence Mooney and his ‘D-Grade’ radio show

An Instagram influencer has accused Triple M Sydney’s Lawrence Mooney of online bullying and said a segment on his show, Moonman In The Morning, shows “how low the human race is”.

The woman, Ruby Tuesday Matthews, attracted mainstream media attention when she exacerbated a flight delay last year. She had left the airport to dine on oysters and was reportedly booed when she finally returned and boarded the plane.

Back in October, Mooney covered the incident on his show, saying influencers were “people who love a free feed or skincare product because they’re prepared to prostitute themselves”.

He also referred to Matthews as a “reptile” and said “this bird can go and get shucked”. On influencers more generally he said they’re “social media whore[s] who will sell your life for free stuff”.

The clip apparently only came to Matthews’ attention recently, and she said she is “utterly gobsmacked” by it.

“It really does go to show how low The human race is. If all you can do is completely right [sic] off a single mum to make a segment, what do you really have going for yourself and your D grade radio show,” she wrote on Instagram.

“To say I prostitute myself out for products it’s a complete lie. I actually get paid lol ! To call me low hanging fruit. And say I “whore myself out” is a disgusting comment to make about anyone let alone a mother of two small boys,” she added.

She tagged the program’s Instagram, linked to the offending video and told them to “come at me”.

Despite calling Mooney’s actions online bullying, she then encouraged her fans and supporters to go and leave comments on the video – something they have done enthusiastically over the past two days – and concluded “you picked the wrong bitch”.
