Last original SEN breakfast host to exit

Tim Watson is leaving his co-host role after 10 years on SEN breakfast in Melbourne.

The former Essendon captain is the last of the original SEN lineup. When the station started back in 2004 he worked alongside Garry Lyon and Bill Brownless.

Watson told the Herald Sun,"it's a great job but I thought I was probably holding Andy (Maher) back and it's time he took on Ross (Stevenson) and John (Burns on 3AW)."

"Breakfast radio just wears you down after a while and it's just that I'm at the point where I'm ready to move on."

"I'll just stay with Channel 7 and there are no big plans outside of that."

SEN GM Barrie Quick said:

"Ten years is a long time, especially for a breakfast host."

"And in that time he has of course just made a wonderful contribution to SEN and the growth of SEN over the time and after 10 years you do get to the stage where it's probably time to take a rest."

Andy Maher will continue on the breakfast show with a potential replacement to be Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze.

Watson will see out the survey year with his final show on November 29.
