Lachlan Kitchen farewells i98 after 15 years

Staff Writer

Lachlan Kitchen is departing i98 FM Illawarra after spending almost 15 years at the station.

The presenter and former content director announced the news on Instagram, revealing he’d turned down the offer of a contract extension.

Whilst with i98’s parent company WIN, Lachlan was nominated for three ACRAs, winning one in 2008 for Best Music Special.

He has also worked as a producer at 2GB since 2018 and is a lecturer at AFTRS.

“It’s hard to believe but after nearly 15 years & almost 14,000 LIVE hours of broadcasting, I’ve decided to decline the offer of a contract extension & leave my home at i98FM,” he wrote.

“I’d like to thank the i98 management of 2004, for taking a chance on me & I wish i98/WIN all the very best for the future in continuing their #1 position.”

It’s hard to believe but after nearly 15 years & almost 14,000 LIVE hours of broadcasting, I’ve decided to decline the offer of a contract extension & leave my home at @i98fm. From the young, green, 23 year old (who was happy to just meet Ricki-Lee), I’ve learned & gained so much. To ACRA wins, survey wins, and overseas trips, I’ve had a career one could only dream about. However, it’s the friendships and the love from the audience, that I’ll take with me always. I’m forever grateful. I’d like to thank the i98 management of 2004, for taking a chance on me & I wish i98/WIN all the very best for the future in continuing their #1 position. 1 Big Show Left! #radio #i98 #wollongong #onair #mic #micon #farewell #finalshow #commercialradio
