‘I’m surprised not everyone listens to my radio show’: Kyle Sandilands on whether or not he’s a narcissist
Kyle Sandilands has opened up about his opinion on women, his aversion to therapy and whether or not he’s a narcissist on Mia Freedman’s No Filter podcast.
Episode one of the chat is available now, with next week’s covering his relationship with KIIS co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, the fact he didn’t have children, and how he feels about his body.
In episode one of the chat, ‘The many complicated lives of Kyle Sandilands’, the radio star admitted that maybe he thinks he’s slightly too wonderful – a phenomenon which has landed him in hot water over the years.
The discussion promoted Mamamia founder and host of No Filter Freedman and Sandilands to ponder whether or not he was a narcissist.
Sandilands said “Dunno. Don’t even care, really. I don’t feel like I’m hurting anyone”, however did reveal his narcissistic tendency to be “surprised [that] not everyone listens to my radio show”.
Sandilands also admitted that on his climb to the top of radio, he didn’t always treat people well.
“It was the only way I knew how to move forward… to squash everyone that got in the road… I would try and move around, climb over, dig under – but if the only way forward was through or squashing, then I’d do that. I did that a lot in the early days.”
But when pushed on his treatment of female journalists over the years – particularly those who were critical of him – he said he was simply speaking his truth.
“I might have spewed about a female journalist, and that’s happened quite a few times, but I’ve taken [what they’ve said] personally… It’s always a retaliation. I’ve never thrown the first missile, ever,” he said.
“A few times I’ve gone overboard, because I’ve personally been offended at whatever they were writing, and that’s when I’ve exploded or been juvenile and said insulting things.”
Part one of the chat is available below. Part two will be released next week.
