Could Kyle Sandilands make it big on AM radio? Just ask Alan Jones

Staff Writer

Talkback radio broadcaster Alan Jones sat down with entertainment reporter Angela Bishop for an interview on Studio 10 this morning, covering everything from his health to why more women aren’t on talkback.

The pair also spoke on Jones’ rivalry with John Laws and whether or not FM breakfast mogul Kyle Sandilands could make it big on AM radio.

“He’s a genuine radio person Kyle Sandilands so I think he would succeed in any radio format,” Jones said.

“He knows how to handle a microphone and he’s got views and opinions.”

The broadcaster also had some kind words for his AM counterpart Laws, whose rivalry with Jones stretches back decades.

“John Laws is an iconic figure in a world of broadcasting. Laws is a pioneer and a legend.”

Responding to Bishop’s question about his ongoing health struggles, Jones was quick to draw a silver lining despite speaking of the “tremendous” nerve pain he has endured.

“So we are not out of the woods yet but you know I’m improving every day,” he said.

Great interview Angela and a great insight into the man who is a legend in his own lifetime
As one who fell victim to the incompetence of management his candid views on this sector of the business were most illuminating. Pity I didn’t have his clout.
I will be forever grateful for his (off air) support during the dark days that followed my sacking and to another Icon of the industry John Laws, who interviewed me on 2sm for more than 10 minutes after the event
