War of words escalates between Kyle Sandilands and Brendan Fevola

Former Editor & Content Director

Fresh off survey break, a number of radio personalities from across Melbourne and Sydney have becomes embroiled in a war of words.

So far, the flare up involves old foes turned friends Kyle Sandilands and Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes as well as Melbourne’s Brendan ‘Fev’ Fevola.

The battle kicked off following Sandilands’ appearance on The Masked Singer earlier this week.

Sandilands apparently shocked both his KIIS FM co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and 2DayFM Breakfast’s Hughes when he was unmasked on the program.

Speaking about the performance on Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev & Nick program, however, Fevola speculated that Sandilands didn’t actually perform on The Masked Singer, but rather had a (smaller) body double do the hard work on stage. Sandilands instead only fronted up for the ‘reveal’ segment of the show, according to Fevola’s conspiracy.

“I’m a big man, and I don’t think I can move as well as Rubble was moving,” he said, noting that Sandilands is also a larger man, who appeared smaller when performing on stage.

When News.com.au ran the story about the allegations, the website mistakenly attributed the comments and conspiracy to Hughes, rather than Fevola.

Amid the confusion and various accusations, it was then settled that Fevola had indeed made the comments, leading Sandilands to call the Fifi, Fev & Nick show “terrible” and posit that nobody cares about or writes about Melbourne radio.

Fevola warned Sandilands on his program not to make him angry and noted he’s a “different beast to Hughesy”.

He also lamented that Sandilands often gets too personal and tears people down.

“No need to get personal like that, bro,” Fevola said, acknowledging that he actually thinks the KIIS FM Sydney Breakfast show is a great listen.

Fevola’s co-host Fifi Box defended Sandilands.
