Kim Napier joins RT as new reporter

Hi! Dropping in to introduce myself as one of the new reporters with Radio Today.

Rewind to years ago and I was one half of the Kim and Dave breakfast show in Hobart before heading to the newsroom and on-air at FiveAA in Adelaide.

I then went to Sydney and the global travel insurance brand World Nomads as senior producer and co-host of their travel podcast. It was awarded an Honoree at the 2019 Webby Awards for the most engaging, entertaining, and/or informative podcast created on behalf of a brand or organization.

Ultimately, I was made redundant from that role after more than 3 years as Coronavirus ravaged the travel industry.

While in Sydney I worked in the newsroom at Nova, reading bulletins nationally and on Smooth 91.5 and 95.3.

I also launched a company called Branded Podcasts creating audio for integrated marketing and eLearning strategies. One of the projects I am most proud of is the ‘Normal Day’ podcast series created for AIVL. In collaboration with learning design agency the ID Crowd, I captured conversations between a range of healthcare professionals and people who use drugs on the challenges and misunderstandings that occur within the clinical relationship.

In August 2018, the A Normal Day module won first place in the coveted, International Brandon Hall Awards.

More recently, and thanks again to COVID (read that story here) I found myself back in Tassie filling a 6-month contract position hosting Drive on ABC Northern Tasmania. Now that it is finished, I am in the casual stable with the broadcaster and writing for RT.

In between times I am renovating our 1860’s property and getting away in my converted delivery van with my husband Andrew.

Now you know a bit about me I’d love to hear about what you are up to in the industry. You can get in touch by emailing [email protected]

Great to be on board.
