Jase Hawkins welcomes third child

Melbourne’s KIIS 101.1’s Jase & Lauren in the Morning returned to air for their first show of 2022 this morning, with Jase Hawkins sharing the exciting news of the arrival of his third child.

Announcing Archer Charles (Archie), had been born on January 25, Jase shared the story of his birth and how he and wife Lou are coping being parents again after a six-year break, saying, “it feels like the first time again.”

Jase spoke about the family being in full lockdown in the New Year because of Covid-19 saying, “if Lou got Covid or I got Covid I wouldn’t have been able to be there for the birth and she would have had to give birth in a Covid ward.”

Jase took extended leave from the show to await the birth of Archer, and since the birth has been enjoying being in a baby bubble with Archie, wife Lou and sons Felix (8) and Huddy (6).

In October 2021, Jase had shared on air the news that the family were expecting a new addition to the family sharing details that they had gone through IVF saying, “Last year we ended up doing IVF, and a big shout out to anyone going through that because I know it is not easy and lucky for us it worked.”

He admitted that, “There’s been times this year where right in the peak, because we didn’t expect to be in lockdown again, let’s be honest, and right in the middle of lockdown, you are dealing with two lads already at home and home schooling and we are looking at each other going what have we done.”

Congratulations that’s very nice. But his breakfast show is rating in 4 land. The show misses PJ and unfortunately now is just another ‘ dad ‘ show just like Fox and Nova.
I do think listeners get sick of people on air going on about their kids. Listeners with kids have to put up with them 24/7, radio should be a refuge for them.
That breakfast show will remain on 4% hopefully ARN can monetise that somehow. Breakfast could rate better in the last month playing music than with Jase,
will be very interesting to see.

Nearly 50% of 18-49 year olds don’t have children, why doesn’t any radio shows cater for those people ?

Under 20% of couples in Australia have kids, yet breakfast shows talk endlessly about kids. Enough already.

Very simple why radio shows all talk about children despite a declining birth rate, thats what out of touch radio execs and agency sales “think” is important.

It’s the bubble they live in and therefore must be correct.

Radio would be far more successful with new thinking and more open mindedness. Ditch the protectionist, backwards mindsets.

Well Done

Have a look at these comments…. BP, Tom, Sally…
You should all take a hard look at yourselves. He’s had an addition to the family and that should be celebrated. Leave the ratings chat to the radio green room.

Congratulations Jase (Labby). Awesome news for you and the family.
