Jaden Social acquires The Music Network, joins Radio Today

It was May 1994 and Prince’s ‘The Most Beautiful Girl In The World’ was owning the ARIA Singles Chart. That same month, upstart trade publication The Music Network hit the desks of record, radio and touring industry heavyweights.

Following that first black and white issue 23 years ago, under the foundership of artist manager John Woodruff, TMN has weathered many transitions; the pivot from print to digital in 2013 was arguably the title’s most significant.

TMN has since continued to be Australia’s most-read source of independent Australian music business journalism, charts and information.

Fast forward to 2017, as New Zealand artist Lorde takes the US by storm and Spotify playlist spots are as sought-after as radio rotation, there is once again change afoot at TMN.

Effective immediately, social-first digital agency Jaden Social has fully acquired the privately-owned TMN from Mark Dalgleish, who bought the publication from Adam Zammit‘s Peer Group Media in 2013.

“It was time to pass the baton, and I’m delighted to have found a company in Jaden Social who understand the trends that intersect between digital and music, and whose existing B2B music, and radio publishing assets make a great fit with TMN,” said outgoing Publisher, Mark Dalgleish.

The acquisition of TMN, following the purchase of Radio Today by Jaden Social in January this year, marks a natural next step for Australia’s leading digital marketing agency.

“We’re thrilled to welcome TMN to Jaden Social,” CEO Jake Challenor said. “Both have plenty in common: a love of music, a passion for storytelling, a knack for connecting people and digital smarts. Together, I’m confident we can break some new ground. And hopefully, some new music!”

Challenor also said that both publications would further strengthen Jaden Social’s native storytelling capabilities.

From today, the two online B2B publications will share editorial, sales and administration resources, with all existing TMN staff joining the Jaden Social team at its Crows Nest office in Sydney.

Managing Editor Caitlin Welsh, who joined TMN in February, will be responsible for leading the editorial direction and team for TMN and RT.

Daniel Respall continues as Charts Manager. Jaden Social has appointed Elise Ferrari as Online & Social Media Editor and Peter Tuskan as a full-time Staff Writer across both titles. All contact details remain unchanged.

Since launching six years ago, Jaden Social has worked with Universal Music, Chugg Music, Sony Music, Mushroom Group, ABC Music, EMI, Ministry of Sound, Twitter, Coca-Cola Amatil, Carl’s Jr. Australia, Luna Park, Vegemite, and ANZ.
