“You’re a piece of shit”: Kyle Sandilands lays into Ray Hadley for his Intern Pete comments

Former Assistant Editor

Kyle Sandilands took aim at Ray Hadley on KIIS 106.5 this morning, following Intern Pete’s on-air apology for the controversy his comments at former Australian cricket captain Steve Smith‘s press conference last week have caused.

Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O show, Pete apologised for the saga that transpired after he asked Smith a bizarre question about Married At First Sight during the conference.

“I would like to apologise to Steve, i do feel for the guy and I do think that my timing definitely wasn’t right on that, so I am truly sorry to Steve.”

Jackie then addressed the vitriolic nature of social media, and spoke passionately about the irony that Pete is getting no forgiveness himself.

Kyle seemed genuinely furious about how out-of-proportion the whole incident had become, especially by people in the media including the likes of 2GB’s Ray Hadley.

“Ray is a pretend person,” said Kyle. “He’s got no idea about anything he says.”

“You’re a piece of shit,” said Kyle, addressing Hadley, for the way he recently called out Pete live on air.

Kyle and Jackie O also denied having sent Pete to the conference.

In the wake of the stunt, Intern Pete received significant hate online, from both the public and network personalities – and has seen Cricket Australia pull all of its advertising from the station, which Kyle this morning said he could “care less” about.

A spokesperson for ARN last week said that Pete’s question for Smith was “framed for those who don’t follow cricket” and that all he was doing was trying “to inject some warmth to what was a difficult situation.”

It was a great segment KJ. You explored the whole fiasco from the beginning and clarified a lot of facts that other media outlets got wrong.

Intern Pete. I’m sorry you had to face the backlash, it certainly wasn’t warranted. At the end of the day, what the Aus Cricket team did was far worse.

Fair call. It’s nice to see someone back their team in instead of throwing them under the bus. People need to stop pandering to social media trolls.

I’d like to see them engage a lawyer to contact every person who sent a note to Pete’s mum with a stern warning around what happens to people who level that kind of online harassment.

I am not a fan of Ray Hadley but what did Hadley say that wasn’t correct?
He even had the class to not identify your show or your producer Mr Sandilands so as to not give you any of the desperately sought publicity.
Being in the media has responsibilities. Please keep your juvenile humour to yourself and your low IQ and prepubescent audience.
In future kindly stay away from press conferences where adults and responsible journalists are asking questions to garner news and elicit information.
