Reporter

Today saw the official launch of the 20th anniversary edition of i98FM’s Illawarra Convoy, which will take place on Sunday November 17, 2024.

This year’s event promises to be the biggest yet, building on the incredible achievement of surpassing $25 million raised since the Convoy’s inception in 2005.

i98FM Breakfast Show hosts Marty Haynes, Christian McEwan and Bella Leone led today’s festivities, alongside members of the local truck and motorbike community and past beneficiaries supported by the Illawarra Community Foundation.

The launch saw the announcement of renowned Australian singer/songwriter Diesel as the headline performer at this year’s free Family Fun Day.

Diesel will be joined by country music artist Andrew Swift as well as other local talent.

i98FM Illawarra Convoy Manager Bill White says “It’s phenomenal that we are now celebrating the 20th year of this incredible event. Our community has raised so much money and we are exceptionally proud of the impact Convoy has had on over 500 families right here in the Illawarra and South Coast – as well as funding major projects such as the redevelopment of Wollongong Hospital Children’s Ward.”

All funds raised from the i98FM Illawarra Convoy go directly to the Illawarra Community Foundation which helps families affected by life threatening and life limiting illnesses.

To date, the Illawarra Community Foundation has provided financial assistance to over 600 families throughout the Illawarra and South Coast. The Foundation has also contributed over $4.3 million to the redevelopment of Wollongong Hospital’s Children’s Ward, while also supporting other local charities and initiatives.
