How the Matildas have taken over SCA

Reporter

SCA continues to celebrate all things green and gold across its brands – both in the lead up to last night’s Matildas game and looking ahead to Saturday night, where the Aussies will play for third place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Here’s how the Tillies took over SCA:

LiSTNR

Where were you when the Matildas beat France on Saturday night? LiSTNR gathered its key sporting names including Mark ‘Howie’ Howard (The Howie Games), Leigh ‘Joey’ Montagna (Footy Talk AFL), Emma Lawrence (Footy Talk NRL), Gordan Tallis (Footy Talk NRL) and Brad Haddin (Willow Talk) to ask the question! TRIPLE M NETWORK

During Saturday night’s live Triple M Footy call for the Carlton v Melbourne game, the Tillies had the callers on the edge of their seats during the penalty shootout. As Australia scored the winning goal advancing them to the semi-finals, the MCG and the commentary box exploded!

The video is Triple M Footy’s most watched YouTube video of the year so far (watch it here).

Triple M Sydney and Triple M Melbourne only played Aussie songs yesterday in the lead up to the big game. Triple M’s Rush Hour with Gus, Jude & Wendell (NSW) and Triple M’s Rush Hour with Bernie, Blewey & Jars (SA) gathered at local pubs for yesterday’s shows, while Triple M’s Rush Hour with JB & Billy (Vic) covered the studio in green and gold with Bill providing some of his best jokes dedicated to the Matildas and closing by singing along to ‘Waltzing Matilda’ (watch the video here).

Screaming Jets frontman and Triple M Host Dave ‘Gleeso’ Gleeson joined Triple M Adelaide’s Breakfast show, Roo, Ditts & Loz, teaming up with co-host Loz to perform a rendition of ‘Waltzing Matilda’ (listen to the audio here).

104.5 Triple M Brisbane’s Marto from Triple M Breakfast with Marto, Margaux & Dan led The Courier Mail to change its name for the first time ever (over 177 years) – to ‘The Kerr-ier Mail’ for the Saturday, 12 August and Wednesday, 16 August editions.

The Courier Mail’s Weekend Editor Anna Caldwell joined the show to make the announcement (listen to the audio here).

Marto, the former Wallabies fullback, is right behind our Aussie girls and LOVED The Courier Mail last Tuesday morning, with the Sam Kerr poster.

HIT NETWORK

Nikki Webster and Tones and I joined 2DayFM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin and The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick yesterday. Nikki, best known for the hit ‘Strawberry Kisses’, said how flattered she was that her song lives on and continues to be the Matildas pump up tune!

Meanwhile, Tones and I spoke about her close relationship with the Matildas team and her passion for the game! The Jimmy & Nath Show broadcast last night’s show live from the Coogee Bay Hotel amongst keen Matildas fans.

The Hit Network will put together another pre-match party playlist to countdown the Matildas playoff match on Saturday, hosted by B105’s Brad Wood.
