Hot Tomato get local

Staff Writer

In an excellent example of great local content, Hot Tomato's Flan and Emily Jade have created a fantastic result from a compelling story arc this week.

On Tuesday this week, they noticed a man standing on a main intersection in Southport, near Hot Tomato, holding a sign up saying he was unemployed and looking for any work he could.

Emily Jade spoke to him; his name was Shaun and he's a father of 3 kids, to find out more about who he is and what he is looking for.

Overnight on tuesday, Shaun had a number of job offers following the interview on Hot Tomato, and obtained some casual work on wednesday, and next week.

As yet, a full-time job is yet to present itself, but based on the email below to Hot Tomato from the business who hired Shaun for casual landscaping work on wednesday, that won't be far away.

Excellent community-involved radio from Flan and Emily Jade at Hot Tomato.

"Hi guys, I have had the pleasure of hiring Shaun the father of 3 you featured a couple of days ago for some landscaping work. I just wanted to say he has been outstanding! Shaun was ready on time and threw himself into every task.

He was very very hard working polite and so very positive! I do have some more work for him at a later date and will be hiring him again. I would recommend Shaun highly, he is a great hard worker and deserves a break."

If your station is doing some great work in the local market, let us know about it here.
