It’s a big week in Adelaide, with excitement building among local footy fans as Port prepares to do battle with the Crows in Showdown 53.

In his weekly chat on Mix 102.3’s Ali Clarke Breakfast Show, Port Adelaide’s Xavier Duursma shared tales of  some hot and sweaty scenes during a dinner get together this week with staff and team mates.

“It was a great night. We had some amazing food cooked up for us. At the end of the night, we had a spicy food contest. Ten people from the club – players and staff – got served up hot stuff – Doritos with spicy sauce, spicy wings. They started off on the first level. After the second or third level, a few people started to go out.”

“It got down to a three horse race between Jackson Meade, Brynn Teakle and Jed Hagan. They were pretty determined, but at the same time there were tears. You should have seen the sweat. It was like they’d been in a sauna. Brynn’s face – he was crying. You could see their lips were on fire. It got to the last stage … they all wanted to do this last one … it’s called Satan’s Spit.”

“A couple of them threw up.”
