Hinch guilty of breaching court suppression order

Staff Writer

Former 3AW drive host Derryn Hinch has this morning been found guilty of breaching a court suppression order over information he published on his Human Headline website about the Jill Meagher case.

On his site, Hinch detailed Adrian Ernest Bayley's earlier rape convictions plus other information the courts deemed to be in breach of the order.

Hinch's lawyer defended the claims, saying the website only had 797 individual views over a 4 day period when the suppression order was in place.

3AW are reporting that outside court Hinch said he was "gutted". "I just don't think I've done anything. I think I've been made the scapegoat, the whipping boy."

Hinch was also up on contempt of court charges but was found not guilty.

Sentencing will take place on October 11.
