A Warrandyte couple has won a new five-bedroom house in the Royal Melbourne Hospital Home Lottery, plus a staggering $50,000 in gold.

Mother of six Jo Laidlaw was told of her win on GOLD 104.3’s breakfast show on Tuesday. The house was just one of 4,700 prizes that were given away, totalling more than $3 million.

Lottery ambassadors and GOLD 104.3 hosts Jo Stanley and Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann were on the radio survey break this morning, leaving Craig ‘Huggsy’ Huggins to break the good news to Laidlaw.

“This is not a joke is it?” Mrs Laidlaw said when she answered the phone this morning. “Craig, is this for serious? I just can’t believe it. This is too good to be true.”

Situated in Melbourne suburb Glen Iris, the brand new house was styled by Shaynna Blaze and is valued at $2.8 million.

Selling out in record time, the proceeds of all donations from this year’s lottery will go to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

“I thought it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t go anywhere because I put the money into something I care about obviously the health of our young people, and older people,” Laidlaw added.
