Glenn Wheatley’s final media interview

Andrew Burke, Australian Financial Review Weekend editor, has shared details of his interview with the late Glen Wheatley.

“I was calling him to talk about a project that was, perhaps unsurprisingly, designed to further leverage the success of his old friend and greatest professional collaborator, singer John Farnham.”

With both men in their 70s, the idea was to use Farnham’s back catalogue of hits as the basis for a musical that could bring the music to a new audience. And in Wheatley’s telling, help complete some unfinished business by taking Farnham’s songs to the one big market he hadn’t conquered: the US.

Glenn Wheatley died early this week after contracting COVID-19. He was 74.
